Even without all the fancy features of reblogging and such that Tumblr offers, I still find it more comfortable posting my thoughts here. Perhaps I'm just lazy to tweak the html since I've forgotten stuffs bout coding.I haven't been painting for 3 months, which have taken quite a toll on my artistic skills (it's sounds funny but I can't seem to find another word). So, the day I was reunited with my wacom, I worked away on a sketch that I've been wanting to paint. And I might have gone overboard by painting till two in the morning even with the jet lag due to my flight from Paris and the fact that I never got a wink of sleep in that 10-hour-flight. Yes! Paris is a wonderful place. I can see why it's always featured in books and films now. And for being absent from blogspot for so long, I give you this. I guess I could call it a souvenir or maybe a welcoming gift for myself.

Try guessing who this is. I'll give you some hints. He's a vain and pretty Heartless wizard although I might have made him look androgynous subconsciously.

If you failed to, then I'm pretty much doomed as a person who draws.

Well, the main reason is that I'm still working on my final project. Lots more to go but with so little time. This is divine punishment for slacking earlier in the semester. I know...I should have learnt my lesson years ago. At least I'm still pretty much alive though I sleep at daybreak and waking in the afternoon nowadays. Anyways, I've something from my final project that I just finished today. I was referencing to Tracy J. Butler's process of how she shaded/coloured her comic pages. She's awesome.

Colour study. I messed up the colours again.

January 24, 2011. Yea, good morning my ass. When woke up today I realised I lost 4orm . I remembered clearly that I stuffed it in my pocket ... That is unless I dropped it on my way home, or hopefully slipped out of my pocket when I was sleeping. At least then, my sister would have found it and kept it for me. Ugh...I could have bought 8 meals with that money.

I seriously need to start going to bed early. To think I used to complain when I sleep at 5am last semester. I got used to that sleep cycle and now I'm going to bed at that time almost every day. To top that off, I'm drinking coffee pretty often too. Sooner or later, either my kidney or my liver would fail. Touch wood. Wouldn't want that to happen. And so, I've decided to go to bed after I'm done with this post. Assignments or not, I'm off to sleep.

Oh, and recently kabuki or rather this caught my attention. I've fallen in love with Japan all over again because of him. How can anyone be so beautiful? I'm not sure if that's the right word I should use but I'm really mesmerized by his movements.

Perhaps I'm just getting old... only one of my friends whom I have shown this video likes it. This is pretty cool as well. I love the fan dance. The movements are so fluid. Not to mention that his gaze is so captivating. Why are Japanese so... amazing?

I haven't been doing any work since I walk out of college yesterday. Thursdays and Fridays are the best; I get to sleep all I want and catch up on friends. Yesterday was fun although I had some accident involving an ice-cream. It was Nad's fault; she punched the ice-cream and made it flew ten feet up in the air. Luckily, it didn't fall on my head because I was stunned for a whole 3 seconds after that happened D8 ... tho I may still be partially at fault for holding it out. ehehehhh It was like a spontaneous karate-chop exercise in the Sunway Pyramid. I wonder what the passersby thought when they saw us. It must have looked like we're having a fight or something.

I admit I've wasted a lot of time but it's only fair 'cause I work my ass off from Sundays till Thursdays. I think I've lost an awful lot of weight this year. I'm looking more and more like a zombie. Good thing my new hair cut made me look more human lately.

And my long awaited great, awesome,fabulous, amazing, wonderful book has arrived!!!!!

Isn't the cover pwetty??????? I was too lazy to snap photos of the pages tho. I just got it on Tuesday. Sure it costs a lot, but it's worth it. Next, I'm gonna wrap it so that it'll be pretty even after I've flipped it over a thousand times. And below is something I did two weeks ago for Comic Fiesta. =D I was inspired by Norman Rockwell at that time, and thus the similar composition.

My taste for art has changed since I entered college. Or could I be so proud to say that I have matured? 8D I used to like manga a lot and I was really ignorant tp all other type of art styles. But after two years, I realised I am poisoned by manga and my drawings...well, it's hard to step out of that manga style because I didn't start with realism instead. Geh. I wish I had heard of this advice earlier, " Learn to draw before you start stylizing it." It's from the book 'How to Draw Noir Comics'. What he(i forgot his name) said is significant to that problem I'm facing now.

hi guys!..umm, anyone who reads my blog.

no no, I'm not gonna complain how stressed I am...tho i have been the last few days. Not sure why, but I'm in a rather jolly mood today. Good enough to update this almost deserted blog. I've been reading a lot this year. The books I read are, A thousand splendid suns, The Alchemist(oh, I love this one most), and Dorian Gray (I read this over and over) . It's not much but I'm really proud of myself. All of them are bought by sister. :B

Hopefully this newly developed hobby would magically improve my writing. I still write like a high schooler, or maybe I've gone worse. It's depressing when you need to write essays again when you have not been for two years. I've never been good at it anyways. The other day, I ordered an art book, ' Avatar: the last airbender'. I'm still anxiously waiting for the day it'll be in my hands.

So I'll be graduating in less than a year, to be precise 5 months actually. I still haven't decided on what to do after I leave college, but I'm trying to savour every moment I have left before I graduate. I've been thinking of working but then one day, my sister fed me this idea to study with her in Germany. Not the same course, that's for sure. I thought it is an interesting idea. What do you think? But I'm not sure if I still need to take classes for animation. I pretty much know what I should be doing to get better by now. But the idea is really tempting and at the same time costly. I've also considered furthering my studies in one of the schools that are twinned to mine. But that's just a thought.

Well, back to the thought of working. I haven't done any serious research yet; I heard they are several studios in Malaysia that has openings. Might check them out when I'm free. Oh yea, I forgot 'bout those interships thingy as well. They seemed interesting enough. Yea, you know me. I often jump head first to anything I find interesting and regret afterwards. I'm awfully chatty when I feel happy. Okay, that is all for this post.

I don't know what title to put. Might as well write the date there like a journal. So hey there all who stalk me. I've been doing pretty great up till now, although sometimes, they are the occasional emo rants of how I've been losing my passion in art and stuffs. No worries, 'cause I think I've got it burning again. But the main problem's not here. Life really is cruel sometimes. Recently, all my classmates are rather pressured, all thanks to the grouping issue. Choosing who to work with for your graduation project is really hard. Even I feel a bit...scared..Like what if I ended up with a bad group or the choice made will somehow...sever you from the others. I guess everyone will feel this way, right? Once you're in that group, it'll stay that way for 9 months or so. And I don't even know what position I'm in too. Well, you've heard of the saying "beggars can't be choosers". Feh... I might feel even better if all of us girls just team up, though some problems may come later on. Really should be doing my maya, but I think I'm going to nap a bit first.

I think my drive is diminishing since the start of this sem. I have been slacking a lot. I am not putting all my heart on my work. I'm not even drawing as much as I used to. And right now, as you can see, instead of using the time to start working, I chose to post rants on my blog. I wonder what has gone wrong with me. Perhaps it was the change of environment. I used to be a lot more hardworking 2 years back, and even more of a workaholic back in secondary school. Drawing was a lot more fun then than it is now. I should scrap this thinking soon. It's bound to get me in lots of trouble.

Just had SEA test today. I think I did okay. I was lucky 'cause the thing I read sort of came out =D Let's just hope that no one in our class failed.

I handed in my final assignment for markers. Screwed that up too . Wasn't in the mood for colouring. And after 6 months of not painting, I think my art sense has disappeared somewhere into the dusty corner of my brain. Come back, my art sense... don't abandon meeeeee. Maybe I should spend my sem break painting instead of sleeping. Arrghhh... and I wanted to be a lotus eater after 3 months of hell.

It was a peaceful night yesterday. We were all doing our homework like good little angels, until we hear a scream. Oh noes! Our fellow comrade Cheo is in big trouble. We ran to her aid and found a group of 5 eerie looking creatures in her toilet. What has happened to the world?? All 5 at a time?
We had no choice. It seems Cheo would go crazy at any time if those creatures were to stay any longer. We have to destroy them. Then, Doris brought out the ultimate weapon, SHIEDLTOX!! She then rushed off into the battlefield and fought them. At the same time, one more eerie creature appeared. After delivering her finishing blows, Doris just closed the door behind her. Both of us, Cheo and I, not knowing if the creatures will live through those blows, followed our hero and left the battle scene.

Looks like I have gave out what those eerie creatures are through Shieldtox. xD This is the aftermath of the epic battle. Don't say I haven't warned you, it's no pleasant sight.

tadaa~~! Doris's war prize and her ultimate weapon, Shieldtox. Heh, she's even better than the 'brave little tailor'. Maybe I should make her a belt that says, ' 5 deaths in one spray' xD

Woke at late for class again today. If Cheo hasn't come and wake me, I would have slept till noon.
In class, realised I forgot to bring my pen drive.
Walked home under hot sun.
Found pen drive on work table(clumsy clumsy me). Had a sip of coffee before putting the can back into the fridge and leave for class.
Walked back to class. Doesn't know what was taught. Sat blankly on chair. Fell asleep facing lecturer and was caught. (wasn't known till lunch, when Cheo told me) Continued to stare at computer screen, with the occasional clicks on the mouse. Really have no idea what I was doing.
Class ended at 1. Had KFC for lunch. Almost froze to death, as usual.
Went to conceptual rendering class. Didn't fall asleep this time. Managed to do what was told.
At the end of class, I had some laughs seeing Cheo and the others fight..or play.
Bought movie tickets (YES!!! :D) for tomorrow at Sunway Pyramid.
Went home, straight to the bed at six.

Yea, I woke up an hour ago. Next time, I'm not sleeping at 5am anymore... if this is what I'll be doing after I sleep.

I don't think I can't go to bed early anymore. I can't wake up early, not without my trusty alarm clock and phone. B-b-b...but they're useless now ;__; I remember setting my alarm to 7 am before i went to bed yesterday. When I woke up today, I thought it was strange that it's so bright. Guess what?? It's already ten. My alarm clocks are broken? NOoooooooooo.

Well, after realising rollling around my bed and mumbling to myself won't help, I went downstairs. I saw Doris sitting in front of her pc. "Good! Someone to complain this to!!" I thought. Then she said that my alarm clock was making a lot of noise.

Eh....eh..ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh????

So it wasn't broken? How come I couldn't hear them when it was beside me?? Doris was in the room next to mine. Even she could hear it. My phone alarm too. It was working perfectly fine when I tested it just now. Why couldn't I hear them in my sleep..?

Haven't been posting anything here since the last semester. I'll just write something for the sake of posting. Being in the 2nd year of my studies in college, I realised I have not improved much. The other day, Liang Wei, my lecturer returned our character design assignments from last semester. Of course, I looked at them. I flipped through each of my assignments, and at the same time, thought of the works I handed in for this semester. There hasn't been any difference from my drawing. I still face the same problems whenever I draw now. The same distortions at the face and the overly oval head. So... did I not improve at all?

Then, I started looking at my friends' work from last semester. Because they are my housemates too, comparing their past and present works, I know one thing. They are getting better. I feel like I am the only one who had been walking on the same spot all along. It really did struck me, when my friend told me what was in my mind that time. She was being truthful. However, I can't help feeling pathetic, I'm sorry.

It's a good thing when someone improves. I think I can see some of them going further and further ahead of me. I want to run forward too. Why am I still the way I am?

Perhaps it is my attitude towards work. I have to admit that I am to used to doing things at the very last minute. And I do know of the consequences. People who are reading my blog, please slap me when you see me playing games. I sort of made a deal with a friend where my punishment is drawing figures if i ever do my work last minute again. It seems like I will be drawing loads of figure this semester break. I sounded rather demotivated in the previous paragraphs. To tell the truth, knowing that I'm still standing on the same ground, I want to work as hard as I can.

I got back my previous Visual Communication assignment.. and I realize how bad I was at communicating a message. My lecturer said that I should use sleek and clean graphics. Also, I should use more metaphors (referring to the pigeon image..) I did another version of the Rubix cube visual based on what she said and submitted it on Friday. I hope I get it right this time... or at least better than the previous ones. So here it is, my refined version of 'Out of the box' done with Adobe Illustrator CS2.

I removed the background because my lecturer said it's distracting. The colours aren't that bright in my original ai file. Somehow got brighter after I exported it to jpeg. The flower represents new ideas sprouting out of the box, breaking free from the conventional ways of problem solving

But I was wondering if I can get any comments from anyone who might read my blog.I wrote my rationales on the bottom of every picture. I'll be happy to know that there are other interpretations of these two images. Constructive criticisms are most welcomed~

The True Freedom

Animal rights,
is just a rule made to set a bar to our behaviour. We are always in total control over these less intelligent creatures. They are living at our mercy only. They should be given freedom to run, or to soar freely in the wild. To protect them, we say, by keeping them in zoos and in sanctuaries? It is our fault in the very first place that they are forced out of their homes and dying one by one. Maybe someday, they would be free from the fake worlds we have created for them.

Out of the box?

A rubix cube, puzzle meant to be solved, is almost similar to our lives where we face problems every single day. We can choose to solve them mechanically, like how everyone does, or think out of the box. Since we are given the freedom to choose how we live our lives, every decision we make have to be thought through and reflected upon. Running away is never the best choice. Not only the problem remain unsolved, we may unknowingly cause trouble to the others, considering how our lives are always interconnected to the people around us.

and some time later, I thought I should try and suprise my senior by changing his(yes, my wooden mannequin is a male) costume. Wrapped some cloth over him and TADAAaaa~~ I wonder if I'll get killed by the other Ranka fans out there for doing this.
If you wanna know, my wooden mannequin still looks like this. I couldn't bear the thought of wrecking me and my seniors effort in dressing him up.

I'm having my Drama class later in the afternoon and now I'm worried if I'll be able to act... without laughing my ass off. Can't help it.. I tend to laugh when I'm acting. My stage frights come in a weird way, I know. My two friends and I are going to have our final practice later, 3 hours before the class starts. I just hope I'll be able to memorize my lines properly and do my part in the skit.
I've finished watching Macross Frontier and damn, was it one good anime. Ginga no Lovestory, that's how it was advertised. Maybe this anime was targeted at girls XD Really enjoyable to watch. And I really like one of the characters in that series. The major characters are Ranka, Sheryl and Alto. Compared to Sheryl I love Ranka a thousands of million times more than Sheryl. No picture this time because I'm kinda in a hurry here. But nexttime, I'll be sure to post Ranka's pictures all over. Wish me luck for my drama. I shall take Ranka-chan as my role model and try to anihillaet my stagefrights.

And all of a sudden, I just felt like writing stuffs on this blog which I had created for more than six months now. Initially, I have no intentions of doing so but I must be reading too many of my friends' blogs that actually sparked my interest to write, once again. Hope my English has not gotten any rustier than it should be. But really, my hands are not mean for writing anyways.

That's why, do expect me to post some random photos. Maybe not just random photos,I'll be randomly posting stuffs here too, like rantings and complains about my hectic life in college. Shoot, I just realized I'd overused the word 'random'... Oh well, I am quite random for a human, or rather temperamental. I have mood swings the same like I get assignments five days a week. Hahahha. Rather unfortunate for my friends, eh? But if they can bear with me, then I'd do the same when they get cranky.

I really think that Nike is the most brilliant company for coming up with their "JUST DO IT" tag line. Pretty useful for someone as indecisive as me. Do what you think is right; I like that. Because of my over obsessiveness for Gintama, that line always remind me of that anime. Yep, there's one episode where that phrase was said over and over causing it to be permanently stuck in my brain. And just the other day, I made a pretty big decision too *smile*
